4. Hanging forks

4.1 Definition

Forks are removable pieces of equipment that enable loads to be handled without slinging them, by inserting the fork arms under the loads.

They are used when it is necessary to handle a large number of loads of the same size, and when the use of a forklift, which is faster, is not possible due to the weight to be lifted, the height to be reached or the size of the load.

Depending on the application, there are single-arm forks (in this case, they are referred to as lifting forks, see § 3
