Stimulated by ever-increasing regulatory pressure, research into the replacement of toxic (organic) solvents is undergoing remarkable development. Numerous alternatives have been proposed, but the problem encountered by the skilled worker is often confronted by a dual chemical and economic reality. Indeed, a replacement solvent must be found which will restore the properties of use, while taking into account the cost of implementing the replacement solution.
