3. Normative framework

3.1 XP DTU 64-1 standard "Installation of on-site sanitation systems".

This March 2007 document has the dual status of experimental standard and DTU. As an experimental standard, it is voluntary in application, and as a DTU, it constitutes a set of standard technical clauses contractually applicable to building work contracts.

The contract may define clauses that supplement or derogate from those of the DTU.

It applies to single-family homes. It defines the rules of the art for the implementation of certain regulatory systems: septic tanks for pre-treatment, trenches and underground spreading, and vertical-flow sand-mass systems...
