2. Large-scale naturalist projects with participatory approaches
Interest in participatory approaches to natural sciences has reappeared in France over the last ten years, with various institutional initiatives. Unfortunately, most of these projects have little or nothing to do with soil and its biodiversity. This is due in particular to the lack of tools for observing soil organisms, which are small, not very accessible and whose cultural or heritage interest is not yet recognized by the general public. Major biodiversity observation and referencing projects in France include those run by the Muséum national d'histoire naturelle (MNHN), as well as those run by INRAE, whose aim is to combat certain parasitic diseases with the help of the general public.
