ABSTRACT

Every benchmark of management systems introduces a logic of continuous improvement represented by the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) or Deming's wheel. Once the management system has been implemented, the management review is a privileged moment in the process of continuous improvement and the ideal occasion to conduct a critical review of the functioning of a body. Conducted on a regular basis and supported by a deeply involved management, this review defines actions in order to pursue, adapt, redirect a policy and objectives; it also allows for integrating improvements and modifications at the management system level. Therefore, by "closing the loop", it participates in the commitment and involvement of the management. The assessment of results, analysis of data and the assessment of the state of the system are many of the action levers that assist the management in making the decisions that are to define their strategy.

 INTRODUCTION

The implementation of a management system based on ISO (International Organization for Standardization) certification standards is a voluntary initiative on the part of the management of any organization (company, community, association, organization, etc.).

Whether you choose a quality, environmental, occupational health and safety or integrated QE, QS or QSE management system approach, the content of these standards sets out the requirements to be met in order to obtain the certificate that officially recognizes your commitment.

Among the common and specific requirements of these ISO standards, the management review is a privileged moment in the continuous improvement process, and the ideal opportunity to carry out a critical examination of an organization's operations.

Carried out at regular intervals and supported by a committed management team, the purpose of the management review is to :

  • a general review of the past year;

  • set policy guidelines ;

  • define a strategy ;

  • identify actions to be taken ;

  • evaluate the performance and maturity of the system in place.

So, what normative framework does the management review fit into?

What are its objectives and limits?

And how can it be implemented?
