3. How do organizations react?
As mentioned in the introduction, Green IT is a subset of a more global environmental approach, which must be based on ISO 14001 or ISO 50001. Although understanding of the subject has grown considerably over the last few years, most organizations focus on implementing partial solutions, and few have a global strategy covering all aspects (manufacturing, use, end-of-life).
Moreover, the alignment between organizations' sustainable development policies and their Green IT actions is often weak, mainly due to a lack of exchanges and relations between CSR policy players (sustainable development department) and Green IT players (information systems department). The strategic alignment of an organization's Green IT policy with its sustainable development policy is a key area for improvement in large organizations.
