2. Standards and regulations

2.1 Main standard requirements

ISO 14001 and EMAS are recognized standards that can be applied in all sectors of activity, with the common aim of protecting the environment.

The latter approach environmental aspects as a formal and explicit requirement.

  • ISO 14001 standard (2004 version)

    The requirements of ISO 14001 version 2004 are (chapter 4.3.1) :

    "The organization shall establish, implement and maintain a procedure(s) for:

    a) identify the environmental aspects of its activities, products and services, within the scope defined for the environmental management system, which it has the means to control, and those which it has the means...
