Overview
FrançaisABSTRACT
This article follows the presentation of the context and methodology of ecodesign in electrical engineering. Through a few examples of state-of-the-art studies, this part offers illustrations of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and eco-optimization approaches in the field of electrical engineering. In particular, comparisons are made of the environmental impact of materials and components used in electrical and power electronics systems.
Finally, an example of eco-sizing of an electrical machine is presented, showing that in certain contexts, favoring operating efficiency is contrary to minimizing impacts.

INTRODUCTION
Although relatively confidential, a few LCA studies of electrical engineering components have been published, either by industrialists or academics. A specific review of the state of the art in power electronics is provided in a publication by the members of a working group called "Convertisseurs électroniques de puissance plus soutenables (CEPPS)" of the GDR SEEDS.
In this article, we will illustrate a number of studies taken from the bibliography. We'll start with examples relating to electrical engineering materials, followed by examples relating to a few electrical devices. The first examples are limited to the manufacturing phase (out-of-use). The in-use phase is linked to the conditions of use and is therefore highly specific to the example in question, i.e. not very generalizable.
