1. Different types of gas-liquid contactors

The industrial market offers a wide range of devices for bringing gas and liquid into contact. All these contactors can be classified into two main categories, depending on how the phases are dispersed and on the type of inclusions (bubbles, drops, film) present in the contactors. Table 1 lists the main contactors:

  • contactors in which the gas is dispersed in the form of bubbles;

  • contactors in which the liquid is dispersed in droplet or film form.
