Many pollutants present in the gas phase can be treated by washing with water. These include water-soluble compounds such as ketones, alcohols or tetrahydrofuran, for example. As these are relatively soluble compounds, the value of the Henry's law constants 2 implies control of material transfer through the gas film. The most suitable contactor is the bulk or structured packed column.
