4. Heat transfer mechanisms
To fully understand the benefits of thermal insulation, it's essential to understand the mechanisms behind heat transfer and the associated physical principles.
4.1 Heat transfer basics
In order to study a heat transfer phenomenon, three elements must first be defined:
the medium, which may be made up of several regions of the same medium, or the superposition of several media. It is also necessary to know the state of the matter that constitutes the media (solid, liquid or gas);
