7. Conclusion
Faced with the challenges of climate change, the search for solutions to improve energy efficiency, particularly in buildings, has led to advances in thermal insulation techniques and technologies.
This article concludes with the example of active thermal insulation developed by EDF (patents FR2991698 and FR2991697 filed on June 12, 2012), which consists in creating active walls capable of adapting their thermal characteristics according to their environment. This thermal insulation device can thus evolve from a state of high insulation to a state of lower insulation, or even relative thermal conduction.
In fact, it's a controllable thermal insulation system based on the use of very thin vacuum insulation divided into several chambers equipped with a means of pressure control and regulation.
