2. Calculation examples for agitation systems

2.1 Agitation power and torque required

The power required to drive a helical ribbon type agitator (N = 100 rpm) with the following main geometrical characteristics is calculated:

d = 0.320 m, w = 0.032 m, s = 0.560 m, l = 0.340 m.

The mobile is placed in a tank 0.346 m in diameter t, containing a viscous Newtonian liquid (V = 30 L) with density ρ = 1,400 kg/m 3 and viscosity µ = 40 Pa.s.

The previously determined constants K P and K s are equal to 315 and 32 respectively....
