4. Conclusion

A better understanding of the sources and mechanisms of contamination by harmful environmental agents should make it possible to remedy the increase in pollution-related morbidity and mortality.

Even if we must not lose sight of the fact that life expectancy in industrialized countries has risen from 35 years in 1750 to 80 years today, prudence must always benefit the consumer if we want the length and, above all, the quality of life to continue to improve.
