5. Brewery keg and accessories

5.1 Existing equipment

The brewery keg is made of metal. And yes, there have been beer kegs made of stoved steel, aluminum or stainless steel, with a biconical shape reminiscent of the wooden barrels of our ancestors. Today, they are made exclusively of AISI 314 stainless steel or, in smaller quantities, AISI 316 stainless steel.

The cylindrical shape of the keg facilitates mechanized packaging and palletizing operations. In France, it is available in volumes of 20, 30 and 50 L, and can withstand pressures of 6 to 7 bar.

The beer keg can also be used for all types of draught products for out-of-home consumption: wine, lemonade, cider.
