6. Brewery innovation

6.1 Evolving distribution system

The craze for beer is growing, beer is a festive product and new distribution systems are appearing today: home-brew taps are a response to changes in consumption, increasingly at home. This type of consumption is advantageous for the consumer: lower cost, greater conviviality and limited risk of drink-driving.

Many amateurs turn to ready-to-use kits to produce their own beer at home with rudimentary equipment, but this approach has the advantage of educating the consumer/amateur to the major issues involved in brewing.

Specialty stores have sprung up around this craze for character beer, with a wide choice of retail beers, both locally and from Europe.
