3. Example of the use of an IEM on a home appliance innovation project
The MSE4 "Innovating through Product-Service Systems" was tested in the case of a cordless upright vacuum cleaner, used in small apartments and marketed according to a merchant model. The intention was to explore the possibility of selling the product without transferring ownership, which would make it easier to recover the appliance at the end of its life.
3.1 Characterization of a system's initial state
In IEM4 "Innovating through Product-Service Systems", the first step in the process is to identify unsatisfactory uses of the current system, i.e. specific, constraining and new uses. The second column of the table 3 presents the exploration of these different dissatisfactions.
