1.1 Measurement system
A fiber-optic measurement system comprises several components: the active part, consisting of the optical source and the detector; the electrically passive part, consisting of the fiber-optic transmission subsystem and the fiber-optic sensor.
The sensor modulates the signal emitted by the source, the transmission sub-system conveys the light to the sensitive zone, and then the information to the detector.
