3.1 Uncertainty propagation approach
The GUM "Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement" was first published in August 1999 by the JCGM (Joint Committee for Guides in Metrology). The aim of this guide is to provide a technique for assessing uncertainties, applicable to all companies and laboratories, in order to quantify measurement uncertainties and minimize measurement errors. The uncertainty propagation approach was developed within this framework.
