6. Temperature
The basic quantity in the field of thermal quantities is temperature, specifically thermodynamic temperature. The SI base unit is the kelvin (symbol K), used to express thermodynamic temperature values.
6.1 Definition of kelvin: paradigm shift
The kelvin is one of the four units whose definition changed at the 26th General Conference on Weights and Measures in November 2018. On this occasion, the international system of units underwent a major revision that now links the main units of measurement to the fundamental constants of nature. The kelvin is now defined in relation to a fixed value of Boltzmann's constant as follows
