2. Typical plasma screen performance

To set the scene for the rest of the presentation, the table 1 lists the main performances of commercially available plasma screens: one column is devoted to a typical screen, another column gives the range of values found in products on the market.

  • Comments

    • Definition and format: plasma screens are clearly positioned in the near-meter-diagonal range and beyond, in order to stand out from cathode-ray tubes. The dot count is at least VGA: Video Graphics Array (480 lines), but in its 16/9 version (WVGA, for Wide VGA). This definition also enables images to be rendered in accordance with NTSC and PAL-SECAM television standards.
