4. Manufacturing technologies

With reference to the structure shown in figure 1 , the manufacturing technologies generally employed are as follows.

4.1 Front panel

The substrate used is either standard window glass or a glass with a modified composition to increase its softening temperature.

First, a transparent conductive layer of indium tin oxide (ITO) is sputtered over the entire substrate.

This layer is then etched by photolithography (deposition of a photosensitive plastic film, exposure through a mask, chemical etching, stripping of the plastic film) to form the electrodes.
