1. Metrological traceability

The concept of traceability has two aspects:

  • the first leads to what is known as documentary traceability. It is defined in the terms and definitions of ISO 9000 as "the ability to trace the history, use or location of what is being examined";

  • the second aspect, sometimes called technical traceability, is defined by the International Vocabulary of Basic and General Terms in Metrology
