5. Actuation and control
In this last section, the question of actuation is discussed. We distinguish between the possibility of actuating the structure globally, or locally at the level of its folds. Two objectives are often targeted: self-bending and shape change. Self-folding is an important capability of origami structures, as it enables them to take advantage of planar manufacturing resources and then transform into a 3D structure by self-folding.
