Area-scan camera
Camera whose elements are arranged in the form of a matrix.
Line-scan camera
Camera with elements arranged along a line.
Pixel (Pixel: Picture element)
Image element generally corresponding to a photosensitive element (photosite or photoreceptor) of the image sensor.
Resolution or definition
Number of light-sensitive elements in an image sensor. Resolution is defined either by the number of pixels in the horizontal and vertical directions, or by the total number of pixels.
No pixel or pixel size
Indicates the dimension of the side of a photosensitive element of the image sensor. For today's industrial cameras, pixels are said to be "square", which is...
