1. Microrobotics
1.1 Specific features of microrobotics
1.1.1 Dimensions and related issues
Microrobotics covers all means of moving, positioning, orienting, assembling and characterizing objects between 1 μm and 1 mm in size. An integral part of robotics, it is distinguished by the dimensional range to which it applies. Downscaling leads to a change in the predominant phenomena dictating object behavior. Volumetric effects, notably weight, become negligible compared to surface forces (capillary, electrostatic, etc.)
