2. Biological applications

2.1 In vitro operations

One of the major fields of application for microrobotics is biology. Cells range in size from a few micrometers to several hundred micrometers. They have a wide range of characteristics in terms of shape and mechanical properties. Unlike artificial objects, cells at different stages of development, or at identical stages but belonging to different individuals, are highly variable. This calls for systems capable of handling a wide variety of objects.
