1.1 Data fusion goals
It involves integrating information from multiple sources at a given moment, or from a single source over a time interval, so that the total informational contribution is greater than the sum of the informational contributions of each source, making the best use of the possibilities of each source and compensating for their disadvantages . This synergy of information either provides a better understanding of a scene, or helps to accomplish a mission. Waltz distinguishes two main types of concern for fusion users.
