3. Application example

One application, developed within the framework of European programs among others, consists in equipping a road vehicle with various sensors which, thanks to the fusion of the information provided, enable automatic obstacle detection. Here, we present 2 methods for solving this problem, using the techniques defined above.

  • The first architecture was produced under the Prolab2 contract.

    It consists of a situation assessment module and an interpretation module.

    The front of the vehicle is equipped with a camera, combined with a laser rangefinder, and a linear stereovision system. Other cameras observe the sides and rear.

    The fusion of these dynamic data provides the best possible image of the vehicle in its environment.
