5. Conclusion

The aim of this article was to show how physical nitrogen adsorption data at 77 K can be used to characterize the pores of a nanoporous material.

This type of study has become much more widespread since it has been facilitated by the availability of commercially available equipment [Doc. P 1051] capable of automatically obtaining adsorption-desorption isotherms with very high resolution.

Also, the many porous model materials we can now synthesize, with pores of known shape, regularity and calibrated size, have greatly advanced our understanding of adsorption and capillary condensation phenomena in nanopores.

Finally, the software supplied with the equipment makes it easy to apply all possible theories to experimentally obtained results, which may lead one to believe that it is possible to characterize the texture...
