1. Monosaccharides

Monosaccharides (or oses) are multifunctional molecules with several alcoholic functions and a reducing carbonyl function, either aldehydic in the case of aldoses, or ketonic in the case of ketoses. They are further classified according to the number of carbon atoms they contain, from trioses to nonoses.
