2. Glycosides

Glycosides result from the creation of glycosidic bonds that arise from the condensation of the α - or β - semiacetal function of monosaccharides, leading to α - or β - glycosides. Depending on whether the alcoholic function is carried by another monosaccharide or by a substance of a non-glucidic nature called an aglycone, a distinction is made between holosides and heterosides, respectively.
