5. Conclusion

The dosage of active ingredients and regulated substances in cosmetic products has become a real challenge for this dynamic sector in recent years.

There are several possible explanations for this. The first is regulatory. In recent decades, legislation governing cosmetics has become increasingly stringent around the globe. Thus, to ensure reliable claims, the content of active ingredient(s) must be (or be able to be) quantified. But it is above all the list of substances banned or subject to content limits that has grown considerably.

The substances to be quantified are usually low molecular weight organic compounds (< 2,000 g/mol).
