1. The essentials of laser safety

The impacts, resulting from the interaction between a continuous 2 kW CO 2 (λ = 10,600 nm) laser beam and a brick (figure 1 ), illustrate one of the specific dangers of lasers: the interaction of humans and/or objects with the laser beam.
