5.1 General operations
The General Police Regulations for Inland Navigation (RGPNI) set out the rules governing navigation on all navigable waterways (rivers, canals, lakes, freshwater reservoirs and ponds, and their appurtenances). It may be supplemented by special police regulations (RPP) specifying, for example, lock characteristics, speed limits, parking rules, navigation restrictions or derogations at particular points.
