4.1 Review of experience in port infrastructure asset management

Faced with the challenge of maintaining and ensuring the long-term future of their aging and highly exposed assets, French port infrastructure owners (Grands Ports Maritimes, ports managed by local authorities, military ports) have embarked on a process to organize the management of their assets (surveillance and maintenance). Although countries such as the United States have been pioneers in this field since the late 1980s, current national approaches are very similar in terms of methodology and deployment to what is being done internationally.
