1. Definition of intermodal transport

The diagram below (figure 1 ) shows the various types of intermodal transport.

1.1 Intermodal transport

By definition, intermodal transport is transport that successively uses several different modes to transport intermodal transport units (ITUs) containing the goods, without having to unload the goods from one container and reload them into another.
