1. Problem formulation

This section describes the characteristics of the debris orbits. The specifications of the cleaning program are specified and the optimization problem is formulated.

1.1 Debris orbit

A circular orbit is defined by its radius and two angles orienting the orbital plane in the inertial geocentric reference frame. The classical orbital parameters are denoted a, I, Ω (figure 1 ).
