9. Various industries

We'll look briefly at a few examples that we found particularly instructive.

9.1 Glued bicycle frames

The forerunner was the Bador company, which sought to make racing bikes lighter, while retaining their strength, durability and rigidity.

She then tried to use aluminum tubes, but this metal is difficult to weld.

While other manufacturers were making screw-glued frames, Bador designed and marketed a glued aluminum tube frame in 1980, changing the usual design by using tubes with tapered ends fitted with cast-alloy fittings, themselves tapered, glued with a single-component, heat-setting epoxy glue.

Once assembled, the frame doesn't need to undergo any retouching or finishing treatment....
