5. Bike + train: it's not just the Dutch
The Dutch have chosen not to encourage on-board bicycle transport, but rather to make their stations the hub for parking and access to rental services. It's a choice that has been accompanied by a highly effective strategy, and one that seems to have been crowned with success. Is it because it's the best solution? It's hard to say, given the uniqueness of this territory (and its practices). Other countries, meanwhile, have chosen to support the boarding of bicycles on trains.
