2. Air quality trends in France and Europe

The aim of this section is to provide an initial overview of annual trends in air pollutants in major European conurbations.

2.1 Annual change in France

The concentrations of pollutants in the atmosphere, which characterize air quality in France, are measured by the various stations set up by the AASQAs, either in urban areas close to emission sources (stations close to traffic, industry) or far from these sources (urban or rural background).
