Main carbohydrate storage substance in plants – heterogeneous group of polysaccharides made up of two polymers (amylose and amylopectin) in different proportions.

Amylopectin; Amylopectin

Branched component of starch where glucose units are linked by α-D-(1→4) bonds and by α-D-(1→6) branches.

Amylose; Amylose

Linear component of starch containing only α-D-(1→4) bonds between glucose units.

Cyclodextrin; Cyclodextrin

Cyclic oligomer (oligosaccharide) of glucose, derived from the enzymatic degradation of starch, more specifically amylose.

Macrocycle; Macrocycle

Cyclic glucose macromolecule derived from the enzymatic degradation of starch.
