9. Conclusion

The diversity of separation and detection modes available in CE makes it possible to analyze a wide range of compounds, from small inorganic ions to macromolecules, which is of great interest in many fields of application. Of course, as this article shows, some separation and detection methods are better suited than others, depending on the nature of the analytes and the targeted application, which is the basis of CE expertise.

Current and future developments in this technique include the marketing of portable instruments that can be taken to the sample collection site. Another development is based on microsystems, also known as microfluidic chips or lab-on-a-chip, measuring just a few cm 2 , in which the capillary is replaced by a channel of similar dimensions etched into the microsystem and connected to other channels...
