1. Textiles in care and therapy devices
Products used for care and therapy can be considered, from a regulatory point of view, as medical devices or medicines.
Textile materials are used in a number of medical devices, as well as in products that "border" on drugs, i.e. medical devices used to deliver medicinal substances. It is this last category of very high value-added products that is particularly promising and interesting for the textile sector. These products, which have a direct and more or less invasive relationship with the skin or organs, require biocompatible materials. Depending on the product's application, they must be able to trap and/or release molecules in a controlled manner, provide a support for cell development, or have different mechanical properties.
