6. Implementing open innovation
A prerequisite for implementing open innovation is the establishment of a corporate strategy. In other words, it is necessary to have clearly defined the company's current product-market pairs, those in which the company wants to achieve its ambitions, and the challenges it faces, so as to choose the levers of action that provide the solutions to meet these challenges.
You can't explore your environment in all directions and forge all kinds of collaborations without knowing what you want to do. This doesn't mean, however, that you should ignore opportunities as they arise. A strategy can evolve, but a change of course needs to be carefully thought through. To paraphrase Seneca, "there is no favourable wind for him who does not know where he is going".
