2.1 Preliminary remarks
Measuring the properties of glass fiber reinforcements is a fairly complex problem, requiring a few preliminary comments.
Some properties, which cannot be measured directly on filaments but on bulk glass, do not take into account the various transformations associated with the drawing process, and the values found should therefore be considered as approximate.
Some characteristics, evaluated on filaments, may vary according to the filament diameter measured. Others depend on manufacturing parameters or the sizing applied (§ 3.4.2), and not only on the composition of the glass.
