5. Conclusion
Friction in textiles and textiles against themselves or another material has been widely studied for over a century. As a result, many advances have been made, such as optimizing the twist angle to increase the tensile strength of yarns. However, a number of long-standing or much more recent problems remain unresolved, and are the subject of ongoing studies in which researchers and industry often collaborate.
A long-standing and recurring problem concerns the characterization and modeling of the feel of textile surfaces. Researchers have made progress, but not in a totally satisfactory way, as no solution valid for all types of textile surfaces exists to date.
