An overview of the various continuous fibre composites, together with the processes used to transform them, is given in Table 1 .

CLFT continuous-fiber products can take the form of strips, ribbons, rods or profiles of various shapes and types.

Because of the difficulty of producing them in industrial quantities, these products have long been reserved for niche applications in the aeronautics and arms industries, and most often with high-performance, and therefore very expensive, resins such as PPS (polyphenylene sulfide), PEI (polyetherimide), PAI (polyamide-imide) and PEEK (polyether ether ketone).
