Because of its highly technical nature and safety requirements, the aerospace industry has generated an extensive list of standards illustrating the versatility of parts, properties and applications.

The extreme detail of the standards, although grouped by use, also shows the possibilities and needs for optimizing silicones to meet certain requirements, sometimes to the detriment of other characteristics.
