3. Phosphorescent OLEDs

In 1998, Forrest's team (Princeton University, USA) announced that they could recover 100% of the excitons formed in SCO by transferring them to a phosphorescent dopant present in small quantities in the latter . Phosphorescent diodes (PhOLEDs), whose emissive layer is a mixture of SCO and dopant, gradually took the place of fluorescent OLEDs, leading to a considerable increase in device performance.
